Science Talent Search Presentation Day

Ten Eastmeadows Research Science Elective students attended the annual Science Talent Search Presentation Day run by the Science Teachers Association of Victoria, at Latrobe University. They were accompanied by Mrs Figen Yavuz and Mr Jamie Astill.

Over 800 winning entries in 30 sections were on public display, with schools from all over Victoria in attendance.

The following Eastmeadows students who entered their projects won certificates of Distinction and Merit in the Junior, Intermediate and Open Experimental Research Divisions:

Eight students won Major and Minor Bursary awards in the Junior and Intermediate Experimental Research Division and shared in $1200 in prizes:

They were presented with their prize cheques and medallions by Associate Professor Tony Papenfuss of Walter Hall and Eliza Institute and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and their projects have been selected for entry into the prestigious BHP Billition National Science Competition.

This is a fantastic result - congratulations girls, and thank you to their wonderful teachers and mentors!
